Method :
- Cut potatoes into thin slices but
not quite through to the lower edge, so that the slices hold
together.
- Place potatoes, with slices up,
into a well buttered casserole dish.
- Sprinkle with salt and dot with
butter.
- Bake in a very hot oven 220C
(450F) for 20 minutes, basting occasionally with the melted butter.
- Sprinkle with cheese and
breadcrumbs.
- Bake for another 25 minutes
without basting.
- Serve with a roast for a change.
