Spicy Lentils Recipes

Ingredients : |
240 g
lentils (arhar daal)
salt to
taste
5g yellow
chili powder
15g garlic
paste
120g cream
240g
yoghurt
120g
clarified butter (ghee)
15g
garlic, chopped
2.5g cumin
(jeera) seeds
120g
onions, chopped
4 red
chilies, whole
pepper to
taste |
Method :
- Pick, clean and wash lentils.
- Boil with water (1 liter), salt and
yellow chili powder till they become tender.
- Add garlic paste and cook further
for 10 minutes.
- Add cream, yoghurt and clarified
butter (1/4 cup).
- Cook again for 10 minutes,
stirring frequently so that the clarified butter is incorporated
into the lentils.
- Heat the remaining clarified
butter in a pan.
- Sauté the chopped garlic, cumin
and onions for 2 minutes.
- Add whole red chilies and sauté
till brown.
- Add this mixture to the cooked
lentils and stir for 5-10 minutes.
- Sprinkle pepper, top with a knob
of butter and serve hot, accompanied by any Indian bread.
- Serve hot.
