Spicy Bengal Gram Cooking

chopped
garam
masala
ginger
paste
garlic

tomatoes,
skinned and chopped

coriander, chopped

Method :
- Clean the gram, wash in water 3 or
4 times and soak for 30 minutes in a bowl of water.
- Boil water in a saucepan.
- Add bay leaf, cinnamon stick and
the drained gram, bring to a slow boil.
- Remove the scum from the top of
the pan and simmer until the gram is completely cooked.
- Discard the bay leaf and cinnamon
stick.
- Heat butter in a pan and sauté the
onions till they are soft and golden.
- Add the garam masala, ginger
garlic pastes and sauté over medium heat for 2-3 minutes.
- Add the tomatoes, cooked gram and
salt, cover and cook for 2-3 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with green
coriander.
