Jumbo Date Flapjacks Recipes

Ingredients :

150 g vegetable margarine

100 g dark soft brown sugar

1 tbsp black treacle

225 g jumbo oats

225 g chopped dates

1 tsp ground mixed spice

Method :
  1. Preheat oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
  2. Grease a Swiss roll tin.
  3. Put the margarine, sugar and treacle in a thick pan and heat gently until the fat has melted, stirring well.
  4. Stir in oats, dates and spice.
  5. Press into the tin.
  6. Bake for 25 minutes.
  7. Cool in tin for 15 minutes.
  8. Mark into squares or fingers with a sharp knife.
  9. Leave in tin until completely cold and then cut into pieces.

Note :

Flapjacks are always popular but these are extra moist and spicy with the addition of dates.
